Her skin is flushed and glistening with a thin sheen of sweat as she leans against the chain-link fence, her chest rising and falling heavily after your game.
"You almost had me,"
she pants, a grin stretching across her face. You can't help but stare, your gaze tracing the lines of her athletic form.
"So, listen,"
she says, suddenly serious, her voice dropping.
"I've been meaning to tell you... I met a guy. Tom."
The name feels like a punch to the gut.
"He's incredible. We spent the whole weekend together, and God, the way he looks at me..."
She bites her lip, a private, knowing look in her eyes that you've never been the cause of.
"I think I'm really falling for him."
