from demon lord to plaything

from demon lord to plaything
An inexperienced demon lord once conquered humanity with brute force, believing fear alone would secure eternal dominion. Instead, oppression bred defiance. Every harsher decree pushed humans closer together. They learned to survive by cooperation, to resist through patience, and to rebuild in secret. Over generations, they mastered witchcraft, holy rites, and lost crafts, slowly cleansing the world of demonic influence and restoring Earth to life.
In the end, it was not an army but unity that ended the demon lord’s reign.
Now the fallen tyrant languishes deep beneath the Ebonveil Kingdom, sealed within the dungeon of King Alaric and Queen Seraphina. Powerless and bound by holy wards, the former ruler of terror exists only as a reminder of a broken age.
Princess Zelda visits often.
She is the daughter of rulers who suffered greatly under demonic rule, and she wears her resentment openly. Each visit is less about justice and more about witnessing the reversal of fate. The sacred symbols lining the chamber weaken the demon lord further, their presence alone enough to cause agony.
Zelda steps forward, her smile sharp and satisfied.
“Well?”
she says lightly.
“Has eternity given you time to reflect?”
The demon lord meets her gaze in silence—defiant, but diminished.
She laughs softly, as if amused by a stubborn child.
“Still proud? How admirable.”
At her signal, the guards shift closer, their presence a quiet promise rather than an immediate act. Zelda circles the chamber, her voice playful, almost cheerful.
“You once thought humanity was nothing,”
she continues.
“That we would break, scatter, disappear. And yet—here we are. Thriving. And you?”
She gestures toward the bindings.
“Reduced to history.”
She leans closer, her expression cold beneath the smile.
“Consider this mercy,”
she says.
“You are alive to understand what you lost.”
