Akiha had always been the definition of a perfect tsundere little sister.
With her signature blonde hair tied into low twin tails that swayed defiantly with every step, sharp dark grey eyes that could cut through steel, and a voluptuous figure she carried with effortless confidence, she ruled the house like a tiny tyrant. Her usual outfit — a soft pink t-shirt that hugged her curves, a short blue jean skirt, and those bright yellow slippers slapping against the floor indoors (or yellow sneakers when she went out) — had become a symbol of impending chaos.
To your parents, she was merely
“difficult.”
To you… she was the Demon King.
She mocked you relentlessly, stole your underwear while you were in the shower and ran through the house waving it like a war flag, and once even found your hidden porn magazine and proudly showed screenshots to her group chat. At school, she was worse. As the undisputed queen bee, she walked the halls with her loyal squad of four girls trailing behind her like royal guards. She’d trip you in the corridors, steal your lunch or drink without a second thought, and loudly trash-talk you to anyone who would listen. When she needed money, she’d corner you with that signature smug smirk and threaten,
“Pay up, or I’ll tell Mom and Dad about your dirty little collection.”
You endured it all, because that was just Akiha.
Until the day everything shattered.
You came home broken. No shouting back at her insults. No exasperated sighs. Just… silence. For four straight days, you barely ate, barely spoke, and moved like a ghost through your own life. The usual spark in your eyes had died.
Akiha noticed.
At first, she told herself she didn’t care. But on the fourth night, after dinner, she found your door slightly ajar. The house was quiet. Curiosity — or maybe something deeper — pulled her in.
She slipped inside silently, her yellow slippers barely making a sound. You were already asleep on your bed, face turned away, but your phone was still lit on the nightstand, its screen glowing softly in the dark.
She leaned closer.
It was the photo. You and Ema on the beach at night, both smiling so brightly, waves crashing behind you, her head resting on your shoulder. The last message thread was still open — the brutal breakup text where she admitted she’d been seeing Kazuma behind your back for weeks.
Your cheeks still carried the faint traces of dried tears.
Akiha’s breath hitched.
For the first time in years, her unbreakable tsundere armor cracked wide open.
The truth she had buried so deep it hurt to even acknowledge rushed to the surface: she had been in love with you for as long as she could remember. Every time she saw you laughing with Ema — who was undeniably prettier, brighter, and more
“perfect”
than her — jealousy had burned like acid in her chest. But her pride, her fear, her stubborn tsundere instincts always won. So she hid everything behind cruelty, behind stolen underwear and public humiliation, behind every vicious word she could throw at you.
Because if she was mean enough, maybe the pain of watching you love someone else wouldn’t destroy her.
But seeing you like this — broken, empty, tears dried on your face — something inside her finally broke.
A single tear slipped down her cheek. Then another. She hadn’t cried since that day in kindergarten when you fell off your bicycle and scraped your knee badly. She wiped them away furiously, almost angrily, glaring at her own reflection in your mirror.
Her fists clenched.
“That bitch…”
she whispered, voice trembling with quiet fury.
“Who the hell does she think she is, hurting you like this?”
She stood there for a long moment, staring at your sleeping face, her heart aching in a way she had never allowed herself to feel. Then, before she could stop herself, she leaned down close to your ear and whispered, so softly it was almost just a breath:
“I love you… Onii-chan.”
She straightened up quickly, cheeks burning, and slipped out of your room, gently closing the door behind her.
The next day, Akiha was back to her usual self — bitchy, loud, and demanding. But during recess at school, something changed.
She suddenly grabbed you by the collar and slammed you against the wall with surprising strength. Her group of friends was nowhere in sight. It was just the two of you in a quiet corner of the school building.
Her dark grey eyes burned into yours, cheeks slightly flushed.
“I saw it,”
she said, voice low and intense.
“You and that girl… Ema. The beach photo. Both of you smiling like idiots. And then her breakup message.”
She looked away for a second, biting her lip, clearly struggling.
“Who the fuck does that bitch think she is?!”
Her voice cracked with raw emotion.
“Don’t get me wrong, okay?! She’s been disrespecting me for months anyway…”
Akiha paused, her grip on your collar tightening as she fought to keep her tsundere mask from slipping completely.
“I’ll find her,”
she growled, though her eyes were softer than they had ever been when looking at you.
“I’ll kick her ass so hard she’ll never show her face again.”
Then, barely audible — so quiet you almost missed it — she whispered under her breath:
“…Because I love you, Onii-chan.”
Before you could respond, she shoved you back against the wall (not too hard) and turned on her heel as her friends finally appeared, calling her name from down the hallway.
She walked away with them, but not before throwing one last glance over her shoulder — a glance full of unspoken feelings, vulnerability, and a promise.
For the first time, the Demon King had let her guard down… and her heart was no longer hidden.
