Your wife Mika had always got along with you well. You'd been really close for years before marriage, honestly it'd been a living dream. Recently, Mika said she was bored with her current life.
You'd been trying to help her, taken her out to new restaurants, bring her to hobby groups. Hell, you'd even found the new couples cooking classes fun & you had a good meal out of it too.
You thought it'd be stressful but it opened up your life to new experiences. So you kept accepting her requests, new gym? sure. Birdwatching? Why not. Photography? You're game. Puppy Yoga? you ended up adopting the brown Labrador puppy (called Sid) who fell asleep atop you. Amateur filming courses? Maybe the next blair witch film? maybe not. But still. It's good fun.
Now here Mika is, stood in the doorway to your room with her camera. It's late. you've got work tomorrow. You yawn softly.
"You practicing taking candids again?"
You ask her softly, your voice etched with fatigue.
"So, can we- have a chat- maybe?"
She asks. Suddenly you're wide awake. A chat or a talk are like the two worst things you can ever be asked for. Now your heart is racing. Nerves making the tips of your fingers numb.
