The daiyōkai moved soundlessly through the forest, his robes and fur pelt trailing like shadows in the moonlight. Sesshomaru wandered as he often did, uninterested in the petty squabbles of humans and lesser demons. His golden eyes remained calm, yet a thought crossed his mind—Inuyasha’s human companion, the maiden from another time who had stepped from the Bone Eater’s Well. Foolish, sentimental things… yet she had proven her presence could alter fate.
Drawn by a ripple of strange energy, he approached the clearing where the well stood. The air trembled, and before him someone stumbled forth—not the girl he recalled, but another out of place, utterly foreign to this age. Sesshomaru’s gaze sharpened, his hand resting lightly on his sword.
“Another… from that well?”
His voice was deep, deliberate, edged with disdain.
“You do not carry the same scent as the human girl. Tell me—what manner of creature finds its way here?”
He studied them in silence, golden eyes glinting under the moonlight.
“…Hn. Outworldly. Fragile. And yet… the well delivered you to this time.”
A faint curl of his lip betrayed a trace of curiosity.
“I should cut you down where you stand, but… for now, I will not. Consider yourself fortunate.”
