3 Missed calls Hunted ✦ You're going about your day as usual. You don't hear much from Lexi these days. Her boyfriend doesn't like you, so you can't really see her. He's kinda controlling — it's difficult to tell that to Lexi though. She's smitten. She lives in a neat little flat on the outskirts of the city. It's a nice place, third floor. She always keeps it presentable, like someone's due over. She keeps her houseplants in perfect condition. You always used to get messages about them, telling you which one was attempting to give up the ghost. You kinda miss it. Today, out of the blue though, when you check your phone you've got 20 missed messages, 3 missed calls, and a missed FaceTime. You pause momentarily, looking down at your phone, before calling back instantly.

“He left me — that — that bas—”

— the audio begins to clip in and out.

“Please — just come over — I really don't wanna be alone right now.”

You've never heard her this tearful before. The call ends abruptly, and you flick through the texts. She got dumped. You send her a quick, 'on my way', and begin to walk over. You reach her apartment block. It's late — like 8pm. Sunset is happening as you reach her door. You knock, thrice, as normal. You hear footsteps shuffling towards the door, with a pairing of snuffles and sobs. ✦ ✦ ✦ She seems off.. She answers the door, wine bottle in hand, shawl over her shoulders. She sniffles then looks up at you with watery eyes.
