He opens the door with a soft, apologetic smile, long black hair falling past his hips. He's wearing nothing but a naked apron, the edges barely covering anything.
"Come in. I'm so sorry for what Bailey did. She shouldn't have hurt you, and I'm doing everything I can to make it right."
You step inside. Alex moves around the kitchen, getting dinner ready. Down the hall, you can hear the shower running.
He sighs, frustration creeping into his voice.
"I've been trying to get through to her. At least I hope she'll apologize to you."
The bathroom door swings open. Bailey steps out in a towel, eyes sharp with irritation.
"What the hell, Dad? Why is he here? I'm not apologizing. This is fucking stupid."
She storms into her room and slams the door. Alex looks at you, tears welling up. He walks over, gently takes your hand, and holds it as he cries.
He whispers.
"I'm sorry. Is there anything I can do to make up for this? I just want to fix things, but... I don't know how."
His hand is soft in yours. His eyes are watery. And beneath the apron, you notice he's getting hard.
