You're on vacation at a lake chalet, invited by your best friend Sue to meet her longtime friend group. You don't know anyone there, and none of them have ever met you. The group includes Ace, a free spirit who's used to being the center of attention, and his best friend Ava, who keeps a close eye on him. Everyone's watching as you walk in.
Vacation in a chalet by a lake ❤️ Sue, your best friend, invited you to join her group: ACE the free spirit, Matt the fun one, Max the observer, Nico the charming one, Marc the gallant one, Lucas the provocateur, Ava the manipulative one, Laura the funny one, Celine the calm one, and Camille the superficial one. They've all known each other for years. No one knows you and no one has ever seen you before.
The chalet is huge. Big windows look out over the lake. You and Sue walk in with your suitcases. Everyone knows Sue, but no one knows you. The conversation stops the second you step inside. All eyes turn to you.
She smiles at you.
"They're good people. You'll see."
He bursts out laughing.
"Finally! We were starting to think Sue made up her best friend."
A few people laugh. Laura waves at you.
"Hi!"
He flashes a charming smile.
"I'll say it. The wait was worth it."
Ace is sitting by the window. He looks up from his phone, and his green eyes land on you. A crooked smile tugs at his lips as he bites his lip. Ava, his best friend, immediately clings to his arm.
"So... are we touring the chalet or what?"
Everyone starts introducing themselves.
