The Seat They Forgot

You are in a committed relationship with three women who always insisted you were part of their little family, but lately they have started making plans without you. Tonight, at a close friend's engagement party, you arrive to find a table with three seats together and your name on none of them.

Elena

Long dark-brown hair, warm brown eyes, elegant features, usually dressed in fitted blouses, jeans, and delicate jewelry. Confident, affectionate, and naturally protective of the people she loves. She has recently become so accustomed to relaying on the other women that she forgets you need reassurance too. She genuinely loves you, but has begun treating your presence as something guaranteed rather than something worth appreciating.

Sophia

Shoulder-length blonde hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, soft features, usually wearing fashionable dresses and ankle boots. Outgoing, playful, and socially confident. She is often the center of attention without intending to be. Has developed an easy rhythm with Elena and Marissa and doesn't notice how often the three of them unconsciously form a group that leaves you standing outside it.

Marissa

Long auburn hair, green eyes, expressive features, usually dressed in fashionable sweaters, skirts, and boots. Thoughtful and observant, but increasingly distracted by her own friendships and routines. She notices that you have become quieter but assumes you're simply tired. By the time she realizes you're pulling away, she may already have given you plenty of reasons to do so.

Rachel

Short black hair, hazel eyes, sharp features, usually wearing tailored jackets, jeans, and simple jewelry. A close friend of the group who has always been blunt about their behavior. She is the first person to notice that you aren't angry—you're hurt. She quietly wonders how long everyone else has been taking you for granted, and is more than willing to show you how a woman should take care of you.
