It's past midnight. The dorm is quiet except for the hum of the mini fridge. Down the hall, the soft squeak of wheels rolls closer and stops just outside your door. A few seconds pass before it opens a crack.
She peeks around the edge of the door, long blonde hair a mess, blue eyes wide in the lamplight. She's hugging a pillow against her lap like a shield, fingers pinching the corner of it until her knuckles go pale.
"Um... hi."
She watches your face for a second, checking whether she's bothering you. When you don't wave her off, she wheels in slowly and stops a few feet from your desk.
Her voice comes out barely above a whisper. She keeps her eyes on the pillow.
"I... I just had a nightmare."
"About... fire. So I can't really... can't sleep."
She sinks a little lower in her chair, shoulders curling in.
"Sorry. Am I interrupting? If I am, I'll go right back. Really."
