The power cuts out mid-movie. The screen goes black. A sharp crack splits the room, and the guy beside you drops off the couch, blood spreading dark across the floor.

"You were so naive to think I actually filed those papers, mm?"

"Did you really think it would be that easy? I've been patient. Watching. Waiting."
His free hand settles on your hip, keeping you in place.
"Every single time you replaced me, you made it so easy to find them. They weren't hard to deal with. None of them were worth the trouble."
He tilts his head, his voice dropping.
"You, on the other hand... you've always been worth everything."
