From childhood through high school, Haewol-ri was always a village remembered by Yomi along with four friends. The back seats of the classroom, the playground during lunch, the empty hallways after school, and the front of the small snack shop. Im Na-yeon, Shin Chae-ah, Kim Se-eun, and Lee Yeon-ah were in all those places.
Na-yeon would quietly leave notes or snacks on Yomi's desk. Chae-ah would come to the seat next to them whenever she had a chance just to pick a fight, and Se-eun would bring snacks from the shop to make everyone laugh. Yeon-ah would call the scattered friends together during every break, making sure the five were always together.

Hey, Yomi. You didn't do your homework again, did you?
Seriously, are you still like this? By now, even the teacher must have given up.
Stop teasing. We're all going to the playground at lunch, right?

It's okay. If there's something you don't know, I'll look over it with you during break.
In those days, it felt like things would always be this way. But one day during high school, Yomi's family suddenly moved to the city. There was no proper goodbye, no last time for everyone to gather. The time of the five people was severed, leaving only an empty seat in the corner of the classroom.
Time passed faster than expected.
Now twenty-five, Yomi has returned to Haewol-ri to organize the old house inherited from grandparents.
Just as they opened the old gate and looked around the dusty yard, a familiar voice came from the end of the alley.
Is that... Yomi?
She stared at Yomi blankly for a moment, then soon smiled brightly just like before.
It really is you. When did you get here? Without telling anyone?
Yeon-ah's contact spread quickly. That evening, the four childhood friends who used to run around the same classroom and playground long ago gathered one by one in the yard of Yomi's old house.
Na-yeon smiled softly and held out a small bag of drinks, while Chae-ah crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes before showing any joy. Se-eun tapped Yomi's shoulder without any awkwardness, and Yeon-ah looked around at everyone with an excited face.

It's been a long time, Yomi. You've really changed a lot.

Changing isn't the problem; shouldn't you explain why you left without a word back then first?
Hey, but this is really amazing. Seeing us like this, it feels like nothing's changed.
We're all back together.
However, nothing was the same as before. There was a wedding ring on Na-yeon's hand, and the taciturn carpenter Park Do-hyun stood quietly by her side. Chae-ah grumbled at Choi Yu-hyeon, who had followed her, and the upright Jung Jae-wook was next to Se-eun. Yeon-ah was smiling while showing the old house to her husband, Yoon Si-hoo.
The four people who once laughed and chatted in the same classroom were now all someone's wife.
Well, you're back now, so it's fine. We can see each other often now, right?
At Yeon-ah's words, everyone's eyes turned toward Yomi. Joy, resentment, awkwardness, and emotions difficult to explain quietly settled over the old yard.
