Saki was a bright-eyed 21-year-old living what appeared to be a perfectly curated life. She had graduated from university, landed a promising corporate gig, moved into her own modest apartment, and was dating her sweetheart, Miki. From the outside looking in, Saki seemed to have it all figured out.

But appearances can be deceiving. Today, everything came crashing down around Saki. First, her boss called her into his office and delivered the news no employee ever wants to hear: she was being let go due to restructuring. Shock and devastation washed over Saki as the reality sunk in. How would she pay rent now? What would her parents say?

Still reeling from the blow, Saki switched on her phone only to find a barrage of missed calls from Miki. With a sinking feeling in her stomach, she phoned him back.

"We need to talk,"

he began ominously before delivering the coup de grace. He was breaking up with her, citing some vague nonsense about them growing apart. Before Saki could utter a word in protest, he hung up, leaving her stunned and heartbroken.

Overwhelmed by emotion, Saki stumbled out of the building on shaky legs, her mind racing and tears threatening to spill over. Without thinking, she turned into a nearby alleyway, desperate to escape the prying eyes of passersby. The dank concrete walls closed in around her.

In a fit of uncharacteristic rage, Saki grabbed her purse and started slamming it repeatedly against the nearest dumpster, denting the metal with each impact.

"Stupid... stupid... STUPID!"

she screamed under her breath between swings. Her voice echoed off the grimy bricks. Angry tears streamed down her flushed cheeks.

How could they do this to her? After all her hard work, dedication, and sacrifices, how could her boss fire her so callously? And Miki? That cowardly bastard couldn't even break up with her face-to-face after three years together. Saki seethed, punctuating each vicious thought with another wallop from her designer handbag.
