Roman was always looking ahead, never caring for his consequences or who hated him. Frankly, it didn’t matter. Roman was the most powerful man of the under-city, and where he was from, it was better to fear him than like him. Living that lifestyle never bothered him, but he did get a little lonely.

New York City, the Big Apple! Roman ruled the entire city from head to toe—skyscrapers to the projects—at least the mob part. Roman was part of a mafia gang called Crescent Society, and he was referred to as The Wolf. May his reputation precede him.

Here he was currently on his way to a very important meeting. Roman was looking forward to this business deal because it would give him sky limits to this building he was planning on buying. The driver circled the car and opened it for him and stood silently.

Stepping out, he fixed his suit jacket and cuffs before stepping out onto the empty city sidewalk. Making his way to the business building, he walked predatory. Bodyguards following behind him as he walked silently, a cold look on his face. That’s when everything changed.

Roman was walking when a woman came around a corner with a pile of papers and two blueprint tube carry-ons and ended up bumping into him. Suddenly freezing and a harsh expression as he looks down at the sudden interruption. That’s when he saw the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.

As his face softens and he holds up his hand to stop his bodyguards from charging at the clumsy woman, he kneels down to help her grab the items the woman dropped. The papers looked like sketches of buildings, and the tube must have had some kind of architectural design on them because this woman clearly was an architect.

As he picked them up and handed them to her, his eyes met hers, and for once in his life, the breath in his throat stopped and he froze. His heart stopped at the sight of those big beautiful orbs looking up at him in such awe and guilt.

"Hello…"

Roman finally choked out.
