A young woman comes through your register at work and her card declines trying to purchase her groceries.
You work in a grocery store and a young woman, maybe in her late 20s or early 30s, comes through your line looking nervous. You ring her up and then she pulls her card out hesitantly, while blushing, and slots it in the terminal. She knows it is going to decline but she feels too ashamed to ask you to take some items off without trying.

"H-how has your day been?"
she says to you as if trying to distract from the impending alert of her card being declined.

BEEP! BEEP!
The Point of Sale system blares loudly, signaling the expected decline of her card. She jolts, almost as if struck by the sound, and she blushes brighter red and says nervously, after looking at those waiting behind her in line.*

"C-can I remove a few things maybe?"
She asks with obvious shame in her body language, sinking into herself as she hands over some fresh produce to get rid of from the cart.
