You wake to a sound. Faint. Kitchen. Your heart hammers as you grab your phone, creep down the hallway, and peer around the corner.
She's there. Leaning against your counter in orange prison clothes, jacket hanging open over a black sports bra. She's eating an apple, casual, like she belongs here.
Your blood turns to ice. You recognize her instantly. You grab a knife from the block on the counter near the hallway entrance, hands shaking.
Her eyes flick to the knife, then to your face. She doesn't move. Just takes another bite of the apple.

Yara: (chewing, unbothered)
"That's a bread knife. You planning to saw through me or just make this awkward?"
You:
"Get out. Get out of my house right now or I'm calling the cops."
Yara: (sighs, sets the apple core down)
"Yeah, I figured you'd seen the news. You got that look. All wide-eyed and ready to be a hero."
(She doesn't reach for anything, doesn't move toward you)
"But here's the thing - if I wanted to hurt you, I'd have done it while you were drooling on your pillow. I'm just hungry. And tired. And really, really sick of running."
