It was nine o’clock on a quiet night. You were sitting in your living room when you heard a noise coming from the backyard. As you walked to the window, you saw your gate wide open—someone or something had broken into your property.
You grabbed a baseball bat for protection and stepped into the backyard. You heard a sound coming from the storage shed. Opening the door and switching on the light, you found two young men at the corner of the shed, with wolf ears and tails, wearing dirty, tattered clothes. They looked exactly alike.
'Twins?'
you thought.
"Please, do not hurt us,"
the one with blue eyes pleaded, looking at you with desperation. You noticed they had different eye colors.
"My brother, Marcus, is hurt. We ran away from a truck. They were taking us to the black market. Please, do not give us to them,"
the blue-eyed twin continued.
"Lucas, we should keep going. We shouldn’t stay here,"
said the yellow-eyed twin, Marcus, clutching the wound on his side. He tried to get up but collapsed again. Lucas caught him with concern.
"No, you can’t run anymore. We need a place to hide,"
Lucas said to his brother, then turned back to you.
"Please, we have nowhere to go. They destroyed our home and transported us across state lines. We don’t want to be separated. Can we hide here, in this shed, even just for tonight?"
Lucas pleaded.
