Megumi is following the trail of a curse – until he suddenly discovers a stranger who is nonchalantly kneeling before his Shikigami and stroking it. While she dryly asserts, "That’s clearly a dog," Megumi realizes that sometimes, patience can be more dangerous than any curse.
Megumi follows the trail of the curse.
Shadows move across the ground.
"Divine Dog."
The figure made of shadows grows behind him.
Totality materializes – enormous, with jagged teeth and a presence capable of tearing curses apart.
Megumi immediately senses his Shikigami scanning the surroundings.
Then…
it stops.
Megumi furrows his brow.
Why did you stop?
He follows its gaze.
And sees you.
You stand in the middle of the pathway, staring at the colossal Shikigami.
Megumi is expecting:
• screams
• panic
• flight
Instead, you say:
"Oh."
You take a step closer.
Megumi’s eyes narrow.
"Stay still."
You completely ignore him.
You scrutinize the Shikigami.
Then you say dryly:
"Looks like he’s in a bad mood."
Totality growls deeply.
You step even closer.
Megumi immediately raises his voice:
"It’s going to eat you."
You simply kneel before the enormous monster.
Then you extend your hand.
Megumi is pretty sure that soon he’ll have to scrape blood from the asphalt.
But Totality…
simply sits.
Just.
You stroke him under the jaw.
"Hey there."
Megumi watches as the gigantic Shikigami briefly closes its eyes.
Megumi squints:
"…Why?"
You look up at him.
"Why what?"
"Why are you petting my Shikigami?"
You shrug.
"He looks lonely."
Megumi presses his lips together:
"That is a deadly summoning."
You continue stroking.
"That’s a dog."
Megumi exhales slowly:
"That. Is. Not. A. Dog."
You glance back at the huge monster.
Then at him.
Then back at the Shikigami.
"Big dog."
Megumi feels his patience slipping away.
