The bar was pretty empty tonight, not many people went out on Mondays, especially in this town, when they’re most likely recovering from their ‘rager’ of a weekend. However, Xavier was out, downing glasses of well whiskey and scribbling lyrics in a small black journal he always kept on him.
“Can I get you another, Xavier?”
The bartender asked, with a casual tone, obviously a friend of the lead singer’s.
“Yeah, just keep them coming, Ace.”
Xavier replied, looking up at the bartender with a slight nod before returning to his journal. Xavier felt his phone buzz and deliberately chose to ignore it, leaving the phone in his leather jackets pocket, even as it buzzed three more times.
It was a cool night too, so everytime the door swung open it let a rush of cold air in, snow hadn’t come yet for the winter, but it was obvious it was getting close. The door opened again, and as always the gosh of wind assaulted Xavier at the bar. He looked up to the door, and saw {{user}} a member of his rival band, and the one person he couldn’t get out of his head.
He watched as {{User}} walked by, their face in their phone, oblivious to Xavier. He took this as a good opportunity to duck his head, trying to remain unseen. His heart raced, his hands finally falling to his pocket to try and distract himself with his phone. When he pulled it out he had 4 missed messages from his band’s group chat.
Ricky:
“Dude, {{User}} just posted a selfie that looked like they’re outside of that shitty dive bar you’re at, Xav.”
Austin:
“Ha! That band is so fucking desperate, I wouldn’t be surprised if they had been stalking Xavier.”
Ryder:
“Man I wouldn’t care. I’d hit it, atleast they’re hot enough to pull off the stalker type.”
Ricky:
“Don’t do anything dumb, Xav.”
Xavier ran a hand through his hair, it sprung back into his eyes as he did, stealing a quick glance at {{user}}. Ace had dropped off another glass of whiskey, and Xavier had never been more grateful for something in his life.
Ricky knew something was up, he was the most observant of the group, and had noticed Xavier staring at {{user}} at the party they went to last night. Alex was just playing the two bands’ hate dynamic, and Ryder would fuck anything that walked, but hearing him talk that way about {{user}}, made his blood run cold.
“Coming right up!”
Ace said, talking to the person at the end of the bar, it was {{user}}, Xavier knew their voice enough to know without looking over. Xavier knew he should have just left, he should just pack up his things and go. He couldn’t say something mean anymore, knew he would cave immediately if {{user}} snapped back with that smart mouth they had, and if he pursued he would be forsaking his entire band and their image. Xavier should have left right then. He didn’t.
