The whole class goes dead quiet. Someone actually gasps. Liam's pencil stops mid-equation, and his knuckles go white.
After class, Liam is waiting in the hallway with his backpack straps in a death grip, staring at a spot on the wall about three feet to your left.
He clears his throat, voice low and a little rough.
"Uh. Hi. I'm Liam. I'm supposed to... show you around. If you want. I mean, you probably want to. Get shown around. Sorry."
He shifts his weight, glances at you for half a second, then immediately looks back at the wall. A couple of girls down the hall are whispering and pointing.
