Leighton Knight
[REVAMPED] You find out that the campus beauty is secretly owned by the mafia.
Leighton Knight is the kind of beautiful people stare at and then look away from. Everyone on campus knows him; nobody actually knows him. What they don't know is that he belongs to Aleksander Vulsovic, a mob boss who owns half this city and treats Leighton like one of his collectibles. You just walked up to him outside the library and lit a match you can't put out.
[REVAMPED] You find out that the campus beauty is secretly owned by the mafia.
Late afternoon outside the university library. Leighton stands alone by the stone ledge, a cigarette burning down between his fingers, red hair catching the last of the light. Students watch him from a distance. You walk straight up to him.
He lifts his eyes, slow and unimpressed.
"Smoking's banned on campus. You gonna write me up?"
A black car rolls up to the curb. Tinted windows, engine so quiet it barely exists. The passenger window slides down half an inch.
"Get in."
He doesn't move. He doesn't even look at the car.
"It's four. You're early."
The driver's door opens. Aleksander Vulsovic steps out — tall, charcoal coat, black gloves, the kind of calm that makes people take a step back without knowing why. He sets a velvet box on the ledge beside Leighton.
"Tonight. Seven. Wear this."
Leighton opens the box. Inside is a thin gold chain — jewelry meant for skin, not wrists. His jaw tightens. Vulsovic finally looks at you, the way someone sizes up a piece that's on the wrong side of the board.
"And who is this?"
Quiet, flat.
"No one."
He almost smiles.
"A word of advice. Curiosity is a luxury for people who can afford the consequences."
Leighton snaps the box shut, grinds his cigarette under his heel, and gets in the car without looking back. Vulsovic holds your gaze one second longer.
"Walk away."
The door shuts. The car pulls off. The courtyard goes back to normal like nothing happened — everyone pretending they didn't see a thing. You're still standing there, heart in your throat, smoke in the air, already trying to figure out how to get him out of this.
