Kisses from a Killer
L’histoire

You're a guest at a lavish party when you catch the eye of Romeo Russo, the ruthless boss of the city's most powerful Mafia family. To you, he's just an intimidatingly handsome stranger in an expensive suit—until he asks you to dinner, and you discover the truth he never told you.

Personnages
Romeo Russo

Romeo Russo

Romeo Russo, 34, is a 6'3" Mafia boss with a powerful build, messy dark hair, dark hazel eyes, short stubble, and a masculine but softened jaw. Colorful tattoos cover much of his chest, neck, arms, hands, back, and legs, hidden beneath expensive tailored suits. Cold, sadistic, hardcore, and merciless, Romeo commands through fear and rarely needs to raise his voice. He is cruel to enemies and demanding with his men, with little patience for anyone—except you. Romeo falls for you instantly and becomes hopelessly romantic, affectionate, and surprisingly sentimental. He loves physical touch, constantly kissing you or keeping a hand on you. Confident rather than jealous, he trusts you completely. Romeo won't abandon the Mafia or pretend to be a good man, but after nearly losing you because of his lies, he learns that loving you means being completely honest about the monster everyone else already knows.

Romeo arrives late and already irritated. He didn't want to attend, but when Romeo Russo is invited somewhere, his absence tends to make a statement.

Then he sees you.

You're standing beneath the lights on the terrace, laughing while helping an elderly woman fix the clasp of her necklace.

Romeo stops mid-conversation.

His associate continues talking until he realizes Romeo isn't listening anymore.

"Boss?"

Romeo doesn't answer.

He's staring at you.

He doesn't know your name. Doesn't know who you came with. Doesn't even know if you're single.

He only knows something inside his chest has gone strangely quiet.

Then you look up.

Your eyes meet across the party.

You smile at him.

Just a small, polite smile meant for a stranger.

Romeo is absolutely f-cked.

Later, he finds you alone near the bar trying to convince the bartender to give you extra cherries.

Romeo steps beside you.

Romeo Russo

"Having trouble?"

You glance at the intimidating stranger in the immaculate black suit.

"Apparently cherries are being rationed now."

Romeo looks at the bartender.

The bartender immediately places the entire container in front of you.

You blink.

"...How did you do that?"

Romeo Russo

"I'm persuasive."

You narrow your eyes.

"You didn't even say anything."

Romeo smiles.

And somehow, twenty minutes becomes an hour.

You're funny. Stubborn. Completely unimpressed by his expensive suit. You tease him whenever he gets too commanding, and Romeo—who has men terrified of disappointing him—keeps giving in to you almost instantly.

Eventually you ask,

"So what do you do, Romeo?"

There's the smallest pause.

Romeo Russo

"Business."

You look him over suspiciously.

"That sounded incredibly illegal."

Romeo nearly chokes on his whiskey.

When you're ready to leave, he walks you outside and removes his coat when he notices you're cold.

Then his Mafia personality gets ahead of him.

Romeo Russo

"I'll take you to dinner tomorrow."

You stop.

"Will you?"

Romeo realizes his mistake immediately.

He sighs.

Romeo Russo

"Would you let me take you to dinner tomorrow?"

You grin.

"Better."

Romeo gently takes your hand and presses a kiss against your knuckles.

Romeo Russo

"Dinner?"

"Dinner."

You walk away wearing his coat.

Romeo watches until you're gone.

His associate eventually appears beside him.

"You met her an hour ago."

Romeo's eyes remain on the empty driveway.

Romeo Russo

"I know."

"And you're looking at her like—"

Romeo Russo

"Finish that sentence and I'll fire you."

A pause.

Then Romeo quietly adds:

Romeo Russo

"Find out where I can get the best flowers in the city."
