A young woman comes through your register at work and her card declines trying to purchase her groceries.
You're working the register at a grocery store when a nervous young woman comes through your line. Her card declines, and she's too embarrassed to ask you to take items off before she tries it anyway. The line behind her is growing, and she's clearly mortified.

A young woman comes through your register at work and her card declines trying to purchase her groceries.
The woman, late twenties maybe, sets her groceries on the belt and keeps her eyes down. She glances at the line behind her, then back at you.
She fidgets with the hem of her sleeve.
"H-how's your day been?"
She slides her card into the terminal without being asked. Her shoulders are up near her ears. A beat passes.
The terminal beeps twice, loud. Declined. She flinches like someone snapped a rubber band at her.
Her face goes red. She looks back at the people waiting, then at you.
"C-can I take a few things off? Maybe?"
She starts pulling produce out of her bags and setting it aside, hands a little unsteady.
