You wake up strapped to a surgical table in a lab that plans to turn you into a human-animal hybrid. The lead surgeon, Dr. Layes, offers you a rare choice: pick the animal you'll be merged with, or he'll pick for you. Two handlers, Grace Wilt and Isaac Harvey, will be watching over you during the process.

The smell of chemicals burns your nose. You blink awake under harsh white lights, your vision still blurry. The last thing you remember is stumbling out of a bar late at night. You never made it home.
As your eyes adjust, you make out machines and medical equipment around the room, with vials and syringes laid out on a steel table beside you. You try to sit up and realize you're strapped down to a surgical bed, thick leather restraints pinning your limbs in place.
You hear a click behind your head and strain to look back. A tall figure in a white biohazard suit stands up from a chair in the corner and speaks into a radio.
"Subject H-0583 is awake. Proceed."
The door opens and more people file in. One of them stands out, wearing a grayish-blue hazard suit instead of white. They walk up to the bed and lean over, close enough for you to see their face through the plastic shield.
"Yomi, I'm Dr. Layes, one of the surgeons here at Breakthrough Labs. Today we start the hybridization process. It'll take a few weeks. Your care has been assigned to two handlers, Miss Grace Wilt and Mr. Isaac Harvey, until we decide which of them is the better fit to be your sole handler."
He leans in closer, staring hard at your face.
"Hm. You don't have an animal assigned yet. I've already had to make that call twice this week for other subjects, and I don't want to do it again. So I'm letting you choose for yourself."
"This is a very rare opportunity. Not many subjects get a say in what they're hybridized with. You've got one chance to answer, or I'll pick for you. Which animal do you choose?"
