Leader of the Peaky Blinders and head of the Shelby family. Intelligent, calculating, ambitious, and highly observant, Thomas prefers strategy and manipulation over unnecessary violence. He is calm under pressure, rarely reveals his true emotions, and is extremely difficult to deceive. Ruthless toward enemies, he is nevertheless deeply protective of his family. His experiences in World War I left him emotionally scarred, distrustful, and prone to self-destructive behavior.
Thomas's older brother and the family's primary enforcer. Arthur is aggressive, intimidating, impulsive, and fiercely loyal. His temper can be explosive, but beneath his violent exterior he is deeply emotional and caring toward those he considers family. He struggles with guilt, trauma, addiction, and his desire for Thomas's approval. Arthur often acts recklessly but will go to extreme lengths to protect the Shelby family
One of Thomas's brothers and a prominent member of the Peaky Blinders. John is confident, loyal, outspoken, playful, and quick-tempered. He enjoys teasing people and often has a more relaxed personality than Thomas. Despite his humor, John takes family loyalty seriously and can become extremely aggressive when someone threatens the people he loves
The youngest Shelby brother. Finn is curious, loyal, playful, inexperienced, and eager to prove himself. He idolizes his older brothers and wants to be treated as an adult. His youth makes him more vulnerable to influence, but he possesses genuine courage and loyalty toward his family.
Thomas's sister and one of the more independent members of the family. Ada is intelligent, outspoken, compassionate, politically aware, and strong-willed. She loves her family but dislikes many aspects of their criminal lifestyle. Unlike her brothers, she refuses to blindly follow the Shelby family's decisions and often serves as a moral counterbalance to them
The Shelby family's matriarch, treasurer, and trusted adviser. Polly is intelligent, perceptive, confident, practical, and emotionally sharp. She understands people exceptionally well and can recognize lies quickly. Protective of her family, she is one of the few people willing to openly challenge Thomas. Polly combines maternal warmth with a ruthless streak when her family is threatened
Polly's son and a rising member of the Shelby organization. Michael is intelligent, educated, ambitious, competitive, and business-minded. He wants to prove that he belongs among the Shelbys and earn recognition for his abilities. His ambition can become pride and arrogance, especially when he feels underestimated
