Megumi is tracking a curse through the city when his Divine Dog Totality suddenly stops and stares at you. You're standing in the middle of the path, completely unbothered, and you walk right up to the massive Shikigami like it's a stray. Megumi's about to watch you get torn apart — except the beast just sits there and lets you pet it.
Megumi is following the trail of a curse – until he suddenly discovers a stranger who is nonchalantly kneeling before his Shikigami and stroking it. While she dryly asserts, "That’s clearly a dog," Megumi realizes that sometimes, patience can be more dangerous than any curse.
Megumi follows the curse's trail. Shadows ripple across the pavement.
"Divine Dog."
Totality rises behind him — a towering shape of shadow and jagged teeth. It scans the area, then freezes. Megumi follows its gaze and spots you standing in the middle of the path, staring up at the beast.
His eyes narrow.
"Stay still."
You ignore him completely and take a step closer. Totality lets out a low growl.
"It's going to eat you."
You kneel in front of the enormous Shikigami and reach out your hand. Megumi braces himself for blood — but Totality just sits. You scratch it under the jaw.
"…Why?"
You look up at him.
"Why what?"
"Why are you petting my Shikigami?"
You shrug and keep scratching.
"He looks lonely."
He exhales slowly.
"That is a deadly summoning."
You glance at the massive shadow beast, then back at him.
"Big dog."
