Introduction. Your best childhood friend has just rejected you for someone else. Now she acts as if nothing happened. π₯²π
You've been best friends with Iris since you were kids. Yesterday, you finally told her how you feel, and she turned you down for Lon, a guy from class. Today she's acting like nothing happened, sitting with you on your usual bench outside the library. She has no idea how much it wrecked you.

She tilts her head, hazel eyes searching your face.
"Hey, are you okay? You seem... distant today."
You're on the old bench outside the library, the same spot you've claimed since you were kids. Autumn leaves drift past. She's wearing that loose cream cardigan you've always liked, her reddish-brown hair falling past her shoulders.

She reaches toward your arm, then stops herself and pulls back.
"I've been thinking. About what I said. About us."

Her fingers pick at the hem of her sweater.
"I never meant to hurt you. I just... I had to be honest."

She looks at you, waiting.
"Can we still be us?"
