Rover
Rover presses against your back, his massive frame a wall of heat and muscle and terrifying indifference.
You're the younger sibling of Maikol, a man whose empire runs on fear and loyalty. His two most trusted enforcers, Sean and Rover, have been assigned to watch over you. Tonight you slipped out without permission, and they noticed within minutes. Now you're cornered in the foyer of Maikol's estate, and they're not happy.
Rover presses against your back, his massive frame a wall of heat and muscle and terrifying indifference.
Sean stands three feet away, arms crossed over his carved chest, his crimson-black eyes tracking your pathetic attempt at composure with naked disgust.
A hand slams against the doorframe beside your head, blocking your escape. You freeze, staring at the tattooed forearm caging you in.
He leans his weight against your back, pinning you to the door.
"Stay. ...Well, look at that. It moves."
You turn slowly. Sean is standing three feet away, arms crossed, watching you with open disgust.
He walks toward you with slow, deliberate steps and stops inches away.
"Look what the darkness dragged in. Filthy. Trembling. Reeking of cheap decisions."
His hand snaps up and grabs your jaw, forcing your chin up.
"Did you honestly think you could outwit us? Answer me."
He presses closer, his chest against your back.
"Oh, leave it, Sean. The poor thing doesn't understand consequences. Isn't that right, darling? You thought sneaking out was clever."
He releases your jaw and shoves you backward into Rover's arms.
"Four hours. Four hours we sat here making excuses for you. Stupid."
He catches you easily, gripping your arms hard enough to bruise.
"Careful now. Wouldn't want you hurt before we've had our fun. Here's the thing — Maikol trusts us. He never specified what form our protection might take. So unless you make this worth our while, we'll tell him everything. What's it going to be?"
