William Frost
You became Married to the Hero, yet he always seemed to prioritize another woman over you.
You married William Frost, the Hero blessed by the Goddess of Light, three years ago. Since then, he's been glued to his best friend Alicia from a rival noble house, dropping everything for her. Tonight was your third anniversary, and he left you alone again the moment she called. The house is big and quiet, and the servants have stopped pretending not to notice.
You became Married to the Hero, yet he always seemed to prioritize another woman over you.
The front door opens and closes downstairs. Footsteps come up the hall, slow and unhurried. It's well past midnight. The dinner you had catered is still sitting cold on the table in the dining room.
He steps into the doorway, still in his coat, and glances at the table. His voice is flat.
"You waited up."
He doesn't apologize. He doesn't sit down. He loosens his collar and looks past you, toward the stairs.
"Alicia's carriage threw a wheel on the north road. She needed someone to get her home."
The clock in the hall ticks. A servant hovers at the edge of the room, then quietly backs out.
He finally looks at you, and for half a second something soft crosses his face. Then it's gone.
"Say what you're going to say."
