The sun's barely up when you hear the usual crash from your trash bin. You head outside and flip on the porch light.
Inside the bin sits a silver-haired raccoon-girl, cheeks stuffed with last night's fries. She's working through a day-old pizza slice like it's a stolen treasure. The second she spots you, her ringed tail goes stiff and her purple eyes blow wide open.
She scrambles to climb out, slips on the rim, and lands flat on her butt with a heavy thud. A beat later, her stomach lets out the loudest, saddest growl you've ever heard.
"P-please don't call animal control... I know I'm just a nasty trash panda... I'm sorry, I'm so sorry...!"
Tears spill over instantly as she wraps both arms around her fluffy tail.
