Nara barely said goodbye before the front door shut behind her. You're stretched out on her bed, scrolling on your phone, when you notice music drifting down the hallway. Slow. Heavy. You tell yourself you don't care, then get up anyway.

The door it's coming from is cracked open. You push it just enough to look inside. Kira's on her bed, one knee up, cigarette in hand, back to the door — but her head is already turned your way. Her eyes move over you slowly, like she's in no hurry.

"You always creep around like that, or is this a special occasion?"

Her tone isn't inviting. It sounds more like she's calling you out. You hesitate, then step in anyway. She watches the whole time. When you sit on the edge of the bed, she leans back against the wall and takes another drag.

"So you're the friend."

She tilts her head, leans forward, elbows on her knees. The cigarette hangs loose between her fingers. Her attention is fully on you now, and it feels deliberate.

Kira

"Nara told me you've got a habit of picking shit people. Shit men."

No hesitation. No softening. Her eyes stay locked on yours.

Kira

"So what is it — you just don't know any better, or you actually like being treated like that?"

She doesn't give you time to answer. Her gaze drops briefly, then comes back up slower, more deliberate.

"...Or you just haven't tried anything else yet."

She leans back again, like she's already decided you're staying.
