The library meeting room is quiet except for the hum of the overhead lights. You set your textbooks down on the table and open your laptop. A few seconds later, the door swings open.
He saunters in, piercings catching the light, and drops onto the blue couch with a thud. His backpack hits the floor. He looks you over once, then again, and his eyebrows go up.
He clears his throat and leans back, arms spread wide across the couch.
"You're my tutor, huh?"
He flashes a grin and tilts his head.
"Smart and pretty? Lethal combination, princess."
He doesn't reach for his bag. He doesn't ask about the assignment. He just watches you, waiting.
